Default Porting Heads Is it worth the time?

I was just wondering if it was worth the time to port the stock heads and if so how much power are we talking?

if you know what your doing but if you had to ask I would say your not experienced doing it so I would not touch them, but you could gasket match them to you intake and headers...also if you have aftermarket header they can stand to be cleaned up as a lot of time there are bosoggers from the welding

if u do other supporting mods to them then yea, but be careful the cam u want will have an affect they are decent flowing heads when ported out to hte max, but u would be better off with aftermarket aluminum or gt 40 irons

then it's still no..you can get 200-500 tied up in them and still won't flow like ole gt-40p..... I have about 500 in parts in my gt-40 and about 40 hours work..in them..you can find nice used aluminum heads for about 500-600

I did mine w/ my Dremel. I got them magnafluxed and reman'd, Crane valve spring kit installed (that I bought), and 3-angle valve job for $160 at City Motor Supply. I spent a lot of time porting them since I'd never done it before. You can get a set of E7's for dirt cheap if you F them up, so try it yourself. I'll be going to the dyno in the next few weeks I'm hoping......got my Prochamber, but still waiting for my UPR U/L control arms to come in.....

I say just put that time and effort into a set of used heads as well. According to the previous owner, my stock heads are port-matched and polished, and 1.90 I ; 1.60 E valves installed. Of course, I am not going to tear it down to verify ... However, I also don't want to spend close to a thousand dollars on a set of alluminum heads that, may only give me a 20 hp gain and drop 40-50 pounds (given mine are actually set up). I would rather pay for a blower.
