Thanks for all the replys everyone, that answered most of my questions. So I was searching through the old posts and they all said buy new gaskets. Is that just for the water pump and valve covers? Also, should my ignition timing stay at 10 BTDC with the new cam?

You'll need water pump, timing cover, valve cover, and an intake gasket at least. You should change the timing chain & gears too while your there, its cheap and your already there - at least change the chain.

Oh yea, bump the timing anytime - just have a tank of gas with premium fuel at the time.

K cool thanks. Ill have to get those gaskets. Im also thinking this might be a good time to put on a 1/2" intake spacer.

just make sure you check the existing hood clearance first before you buy something that makes you need a cowl hood that you were planning on buying!

I know this is an old post, but it had some good info in it, and I thought I would bring it back up with a new question. If the stock cam in the gt only goes up to about 4k RPM, why does the tach go all the way to 5950RPM? I understand after mods that 5950 will be like nothing, but at 4k RPM I feel like I am just beginning to hear my engine growl, then it drops off. What are the major changes to increase your RPM range? Intake? Heads? Cam?
