Default Jet Chip

I got a Jet Chip from my car to try out from a friend. I am thinkin about buyin it, it seems to pull harder in the mid range and rev faster from 3500 to 5000 RPM, I am about 85% sure i got power from it. My car seems to not wanna idle now though, I unooked my battery when I installed it. Could this be from the chip or because my car has to re-learn how to idle.

I understand how you feel about it Adder. I am not big on it either, I hear its basically a 91 octane tune for a stock motor. I am planniing for lots of horsepower later so i dont think i am getting it. What about the idle thing?

dont even worry about that chip. out-of-the box chips are JUNK. every single motor is different, and the only good way to go about chipping it is to get a custom burn, or run your own programmable ECU, like megasquirt or a tweecer

The adaptive should be settled out within 100 miles or so. Idle should be solid within 10-15 minutes of CL idle time. These are rough guesses based on my experience with datalogging my car.

If it doesn't settle down with in a day or 2, then I would be ready to blame the chip.

Still, as others have stated...
It really isn't that much of an advantage to use the chip. You could probably do the same thing by advancing the timing.

Well I have put about 100 miles now and my idle fixed itself. I understand that the chip isn't the best way to go, but i am probably getting it next to nothing. I swear its made a difference...mostly at the top of the low end. It just seems stronger....not so much faster but just a fatter power band. I think the chips changes both the fuel and timing curve.
