i bought a piston ring compressor from sears and for some reason it wont open up all the way. it will open up a little but then it will just stopand wont want to turn any more. i returned it and got an other one and this ones doing the same thing. am i doing some thing wrong or did i just get a bad one again?

 

maybe your not opening it the right way...ive never used one i just use my hand/gasket clamp but thats on smaller engines.

 

use a taper.. ring compressors tend to hang rings wich bends them and breaks them

 

can you get them any where? ive never heard of them or saw them before

 

summit and jegs sell them.. say u have a 4.03 bore.. u get a .030 taper
