Anyone installed SN95 brakes onto a fox 8.8 before?
Maybe somebody has some experience. I'm using an 8.8, and replaced it with ranger axles, giving me 5 lugs of the same width. The SN95 rear end, is, i BELIEVE .75" wider than the fox on each end, due to each axle being .75" longer (Housing is the same).
Now, assuming it IS .75" (I don't have an sn95 axle to compare)...
The caliper brackets obviously push the caliper out .75" too far when used for my application, and it mounts to the outside of the axle flange (one big piece). However, it seems to be .25", and the housing flange itself seems to be .75", if not just slightly under..
Am I stupid for thinking it might be possible to cut the bracket in half, and mount it BEHIND the flange and the housing, maybe installing a really, really thin shim (Although I don't think I need it. Plus aren't these floating, therefore allowing for a tiny bit of error?).. Maybe welding it back up together afterwards once it's on there (However, I see lots of after market brackets that are two piece for some reason..).
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

You know- I wouldn't do it to tell you the truth. You don't want to cut the caliper mounts up. I don't know what the offset is (it was enough to give me a HUGE pain in the *** with 9" wheels), but I know a company called Northern Racecars makes a mounting bracket for both the 10.5" and 11.5" (cobra) rears on a ranger axle for the fox and the factory-five roadsters. I've heard alot of good, and some bad. I know alot of people are experiencing a spacing problem with Strange fox-length axles and the brackets, but the ranger units might be cool.
Good luck- I hope you have an easier time than I did.

I'd love to go out and just buy them, but thats really not in the financial cards at this time.. Could you explain the problems that you had to me more in depth? You mean they hit the outside of the wheels, or? This whole contraption is actually going into a 1967 mustang, and I'll be needing wheels with a 4.5 backspacing. Will this help the problem or exaggerate it? Thanks!

Alright, well, a 67 might be different in this respect.
I threw the sn95 axles on (kit m2300k basically) and even though ford racing assured me they'd be fine- the 17x9 cobra wheels didn't fit properly... alot of OUTER fender rub. I had to modify the body (chop- not just roll- part of the fender). That was my biggest issue really.
Just save and do it right. If you're sure you can do it the way you explained, then by all means, go for it. Let me know if it worked, I might just do the same thing to mine so I can throw wider wheels on at some point.

northracecars.com I believe.. I THINK it might work, I have to double check today. Might need a washer or two between the caliper and bracket.. Let you know later tonight I guess hopefully.
