Default Do I need a new transmission?

Hey there my name is Matt. I just got my 89 5.0 lx hatchback 5 speed about 2 weeks ago. When I bought it, I knew the 2nd gear syncro was broken, but because these cars are hard to find and the body/interior/paint looked so good I went ahead and bought the car. As long as I have my job and I keep the money in I plan on using my car as a daily drive and a street/strip car. Well I can drive my car fine right now, I just cant race it and expect good results. In a month and a half I'll have about 1500, so knowing this is it worth getting a new transmission or just having it rebuilt. I was looking at the tremor one, but im not sure if thats good for a daily driver. I'm only 16 and I really dont know much about cars in general so any advice is appreciated!

Well, I assume you have a t-5 right now. They make really nice rebuild kits for the T-5 to make the stronger, but here's my advice.

Price out the kit and how much labor would be, then get prices on new trannies and install costs...lol

im pretty sure a 89 came with a world class borg warner t5 in it.... i know my 88 has one, it says right on it..... stock mustang trannys cant take alot of abuse or mis shifting, but they do work pretty good... myself i like tremic, there pretty good and can take a pounding, but there not very cheap... i was going to get a 6 speed tremic when i blow up my t5 lol

World class T-5s were put in Mustangs starting in 1985.

You can send that sumbitch off to G-Force transmissions. They will make your trans rated for 600+ lb. ft at full load. And as a standard they install a Pro-5.0 shifter. www.g-forcetransmissions.com

G-force is a bad idea the tremec tko-500 or 600 is all oyu will need and the y are rateed at 500 and 600 ftlbs also, starting at 1500 if you shop around.

Why is G-force a bad idea?
because the tremec tko series is better and cheaper, zg-force is not bad just no point to purchase when you can get a better tranny for less with a tremec tko series.
