i posted this b4 in another thread but hereit goes...im not sure how other states work but here in pennsylvania if you drive your car less than 5k miles per year, you are emmisions exempt. what idid wasafter i got a legit inspection, i ditched the cats and got the full flow kit. i would drive my stang for about 2500 - 3000 miles then remove the speedo gear from the trans. your speedometer wont work, but your odometer wouldn't either. then hook it back up right b4 you take it for the next inspection. as long as the car has 5k or less from the last time they ran your vin, youll get an emmisions exempt sticker and you can run any exhaust you want even an o/r hpipe!!!

We sell this stuff at advance auto that garuntees you to pass emmissions. Not too sure if it works or not, but we sell quite a bit of it. I guess you just put it in your gass a half hour before you go in and you pass. Donno if it works for sure or not.
fine print
The gaurantee applies ONLY if the emissions system is in good working order.

If the emissions equipment works, why would you fail or need that crap...

I tried it in my 2.3, and had no change in eimissions output.
My 2.3 emissions test results and notes are on my site.

I guess my problem is that too many people still feel that the first 'performance' upgrades should be to disable or bypass the emissions equipment.
The only emissions device that can add power through removal is the air pump, but it won't get you much.
EGR doesn't cost any Hp, as it is disabled at wot.
hi flow cats are only ~ $75 each. Current cat designs don't require air pumps, and won't cost any power (assuming appropriately sized). It might take another $50 to have them welded in?

With all the time folks spend trying to 'get around' the test, they could just make better decisions about the emission parts they purchase.

There is no need to cheat emissions testing in the name of Hp.
If you are just plain cheap, that is a different story...

Is there ANY way to pass emissiong with no cats on your car? I know you can with other cars but not sure with Stangs... I have never heard of someone pulling that off.
yea... you slip the smog guy $200... and he will make it pass....lol thats wat i did i had no cats
Retard!

You could have bought and installed high flow MagnaFlow cats for $150.

jason
thanks..... but i dont pass visual....
It is not my intent to attack you personally, I did that above and I apologize.

The idea that emissions equipment will kill your power is bogus though.

I am guessing that you have removed the EGR, Air Pump, and/or evap can?

My point is that removing this equipment will only gain you a couple of hp at wot. Really the only thing that hurts hp is the air pump. That loss is insignificant though.

So it seems ridiculous to me to yank all this stuff out of the car, knowing that you will have to fight with inspection every other year (or however often you get tested).

You may have gained 1-2hp at 6200rpm, but it will cost you $200 every time you try to pass testing.
Then also consider the risk that comes with a reputable test technician.
For example if I were issuing your test, I would report you for trying to bribe me, and see to it that you were heavily fined.

Im in MD and i got mine inspected a week ago. The chick doing the inspection did it wrong 2 times in a row, so i was waiting for 20 min. I watched the little screen and it was in red the whole time. She apologized for it taking so long and passed it. Iv got stock cats that im willing to bet are shot, and either the stock mufflers are rusted through or iv got a catback on it. (got the car 6 months ago it was set up for racing b4, then taken mostly back to stock) Im tryin to get a new midpipe, but dont wanna have to worry about getting pulled over. Cops where i live are complete @ssholes and a no cat ticket for dual exhaust car is 2k. OR pipe is 150, Catted is 300. Thats the only reason id get a OR is cuz its so much cheaper.
