Throttle Stuck
I was coming up on to the highway on ramp and I jammed on the gas and the gasd pedal did not return it stayed floored I tapped on it a couple times but it was not good I then had to reach down and pull the gas pedal up. My engine hit the rev limiter about 4 times what could be causeing this? Could it be a sticky throttle cable or maybe malfunctioning cruise control. Any help would be appreciated boy was it intense I almost wiped out the car in front of me. Oh yeah my car is a 1988 Mustang GT.

RE: Throttle Stuck
Ya i have had it gotten stock before but it was right after i did the Intake Manifold so I just looked and adjusted the throttle. The reason for me was that the new chrome valve covers that i have are just alittle too high and they sometimes tend to hit the spring for the throttle on the throttle body.

RE: Throttle Stuck
ya but one day it is not going to bounce right back. so i would try to find out the problem with it untill one day your foot slipps and hits full and it does not stop and you smack into the back of someone or say hello to a tree or pole. I have seen too many Mustangs hit trees or poles. hmmmm.....

RE: Throttle Stuck
you might want to clean the throttle body out good with some carb cleaner, there is a lot of junk that builds up behind the butterfly from the EGR valve bleeding exhaust gas into the spacer behind the throttle body and there is a chance that there is enough of the gunk to hang the throttle plate up at WOT. on ocassions, my gas pedal would hang up on the carpet or floor mat if I let it slide up under the gas pedal, so check that this ain't your problem also.
