Default My ac is stuck

I recently took my mustang to get smogged when the AC Decided to get stuck (not entirely sure how that works) and ripped my belt. I was wondering how much it what could be the problem, how much would it cost, and if i can just do it myself
Thank you in advance for your gel

Hopefully it's only the clutch and not the compressor. If its the compressor it'll be kinda exspensive unless you do the work yourself.

The pulley on the clutch should turn freely with the power disconnected and the belt removed. Was your A/C on when this happened? if not it's probably the pulley.

I'm inclined to say that it's the compressor.

generally if the belt blows off its due to the compressor locking up while the clutch is commanded on, you need a new compressor, and to also cross ur fingers that it didnt chew itself up internally and contaminate the whole system with metal shavings. that gets expensive real quick. quality reman or new compressors will always come with the clutch included
