I'm installing BBK shorty headers opn my '89 GT. My question is, how do I get them on with the dipstick tube in the way? it went in between the last two exhaust ports on the stock headers, but now with the new ones I can't get the tube between the two , and the hanger bracket on the tube is only making it harder, I'm new to working on my own car so please help. Can I take the distick tube off? and how?

 

yes you can remove the dipstick tube and put it back on after you get the headers installed. Look down low where it goes into the block and there is a bolt I believe that holds it in place. If not, then just take it loose at the top bracket and pull it up out of the block hole and be careful not to loose the O-ring where it seals back into the block.

 

When you put it back in it would be a good idea to put a little silicone on the base of the dipstick to ensure a leak-free fit.
