hey whats up, i've recently purchased my first car and am new to working on cars altogether, my 85 5.0 4 bbl carb w/ manual trans was having problems starting if i let it sit for more than like 6 hours, using starting fluid or pouring a tiny bit of gasoline onto the two front barrels of the carb got it going, (i would have to rev the engine for about a minute so it wouldn't die again) and after that the car runs and sounds great. yesterday i came off the clutch too soon and killed the car in the middle of some chicago traffic (really fun), it usually starts up perfectly if i have been driving it but this time it wouldn't start at all, i pushed the car to the side of the raod, when turning the car on and pumping the gas there was no sound of the fuel pump pulling gas from the gas tank, no fuel going into the carb from what i could see, and almost no fuel at all in the fuel filter, gas or starting fluid would light up but not get the car going. my fuel pump is busted right? its a 4 bbl carb so its just the one mechanical pump under the hood, i bought a new one today and am going to install it today, also is this going to fix my start-up problems? thanks for anyone that can lend me some advice and i'm excited to own a mustang!!
