my buddy baught a 302 long block an he's got gt40 heads,upper an lower intake.now he can't decide what cam to get any helps an he ask me what kinda numbers he will get with this setup 302 block gt40heads upper an lower.thanx guys this guy is bein a pain in my u know what im buildin his motor he buys the parts lol

don't know for sure but I was looking into a similar setup and the trickflow stage 1 cam should do the job for you.

call comp cams and ask them....thats the best answer you will ever get. and it is from a company that makes cams...go figure

stock cam, 1.7 roller rockers will add more lift and work together with his combo. similiar to the 1993 Cobra


245 hp , 256 with headers. Gt 40 is better than stock, but not the best.

if he gets a bigger cam, more than likely he will need better springs on his heads, and thats hard work,

tell him leave the cam alone, however, you will find a camshaft swap on those heads will not net much in lower rpms on the street, but shift the powerband upwards.


Stock with 1.7 were designed for that combo and will make him happy .


Our cobra has stock cam with 1.7 rollers and the GT 40 Combo, and makes 260 hp with short tube headers and 312 lbs torque

GT40 (Exploder) top end can probably get him 240-270rwhp, depending on the rest of his combo. I would go w/ the TFS stage 1 cam.....and grind down the thermactor bumps on the exh side of the GT40's.

Ok told him wat u guys said,he said he wanted that muscle car sound lol but if that is wat is best for his setup than ill push him into it just wanted some thoughts from you guys cuz he just wants to do a 125shot on the motor but let me know if anyone else has thoughts on this
