Default Do worn shocks hurt traction?

Got an 89 GT and probably has original shocks and struts. Geared 3.73, 245 45 on 17's Coopers. Car has never had good straight line traction, first gear is useless. Has anyone noticed an improvement in straight line traction by replacing worn shocks?

Yes they can hurt traction. Your shocks/struts help control your power and get it to the ground. If they're worn, they aren't controlling anything. Get some UPR U/L control arms, too, and you should notice a big difference.

I've got a 306 shortblock and heads on order from DSS and I'm going to have to do something to improve traction. First step is to have a rear end rebuild(new clutches), and then probably some new shocks and struts. Those control arms you mentioned, who carries them. Also are upper arms necessary to replace. Difficulty Level?

Absolutely affected. Get yourself some new shocks, sticky tires, and some control arms and you'll have some nice 60ft times For as far as the control arm question, if you only do one set do the lowers, but both is optimal

you have a video for everything just abot don't you? lol, and yes the suspension is pretty much the most important mod. it dosen't matter if you have a good build engine, if you can't get the power to the ground its useless.
