Hey Guys - New / few questions
hey everyone, i'm new on the forums but not to mustangs, just got out of the army a little bit ago and am looking to hook myself up with one. i got a few questions though - particularly about this car i'm looking at it's an 88 LX that was converted from a 4 cyl to a 5.0, beautiful condition. question is, anyone have any realistic numbers on what they think the cars hp might be with these mods?
s/s 306 motor
edelbrock performer rpm upper and lower portmatched
ported stock heads
e303 cam
hooker longtubes with offroad h pipe
c&l 76mm mass air w/ tube
accufab 75mm tb
no a/c
electric fans
i was thinking about around 260 whp? does that sound right? anyway just wondering what it might take to hit maybe lets say 325-350 rwhp on a good budget without going turbo/supercharged and what you guys might suggest for it. thanks in advance.

I'd guess around 240hp. More then likely those heads aren't really ported or maybe just gasket matched. You could hit 300hp with a larger cam and heads easily. Hit 325hp+ at the wheels takes some really high flowing stuff, afr 185's, big cam and intake.

lol, well right now i have a main line kit sitting around that handles i guess up to 75 hp - i was thinking of using that, but what at least are some better heads for this thing? someone reccomended i at least get the F7's or whatever off the Explorer and have them matched and they'd flow a lot better for a good price, then add the gas.. but i'm not sure about it?

the heads are holding you back for sure, real gt40's the F3ZEAA or whatever from a '93 cobra or lightning are what you want for budget heads
my buddy went 11.80 on those heads w/ a mild port job, 125 shot NOS dry kit, 4.10's , and a box stock gt40 intake. on a full weight '92 GT 5-speed
i am currently looking for a set, you can find them on ebay all day long for about $400 delivered, but delivery is about $100 so i'm waiting for a local deal.
expect about $600 in port work including port and polish exhaust, pocket port intakes, comp valve job, better valve springs , and possibly deck them for more compression depending what your gonna do.
w/ the addition of those to your car, i think you'd see an ez 310-325 RWHP
spray itto get400 and you'll see 11's no problem
