Whats wrong with the stock tranny?

At 180,000 miles I put in a factory 351w.
At 195,000 miles the 408w went in.
The t5 will hold up fairly well, unless you run slicks often. But that applies for 302 cars as well...

thats what i was thinkin but i dont hink this is gonna be the dd

Why would you want to lose the overdrive gear? Just rebuild the T-5 for the price to replace it with upgraded gears.

I am actually running a 351w in my 67. bore .30 . i have an aod sitting under it, with 463 gears in the butt. I went with the automatic because on the strip nothing shifts quicker if that is what you are looking for and I didn't want to be changing a clutch every year.. I had a c4 underneath previously with 463 gears granite both tranis are rebuilt and alot tougher than stock but the c4 held up just fine. As for heads it is all about the budget i threw some 70 mach one heads on my car 66 cc I think, would have to look at my blueprints. I have the rmp airgap intake manifold and it was worth all the money. Beats everything else I have had on it.
I think im going to stick with a stick
Im a pretty decent driver, so i dont think ill have to be replacing too many clutches. I currently have a stage 1 clutch in my car that i think i will reuse. I dont know what kind it is, but i was told by the previous owner that it has one. And it feels much stiffer than stock mustang clutches.

As long as you spend the money for a high grade aftermarket clutch you should be fine, just depends on how rough you are on them. Good luck with everything
