Finally got it all back together. Took the motor right out to change the pan gasket, also did the water pump while I was at it. Changed the screen under the pcv also. New Motor mounts. Started it up, everything appears to be ok so far, no leaks. And yes, I think a clogged pcv could cause the oil pan gasket to leak, this is what happened to mine. The gasket was all ripped and pushed out down the whole passenger side of the motor.
yes, especially if the pistons rings are worn and allow a lot of blow-by gases into the crankcase where they cannot escape unless the PCV draws them out back into the intake manifold where they get burned again. the pressure will blow out the weakest gasket whether that be the oil pan, the intake or the timing cover. in this case, it sounds like the oil pan gasket was the "weakest link" in his system.
