Default 89 Notch, on hold...

I found a nice looking notch that has a better inside than the 93 hatch I was looking at. The car also has a lot less surface rust on the underside than the 93 did. The price is lower, more of my budget, and it's my fav. of them all a notch back. The car is red with only 74,000 org. miles on the stock motor and body. It's a 5-speed and I got to test drive it today also....

First start-up after changing the battery, it fired right away. I started it, it turned over easy and fired right away with no surging or anything of that matter. It was freezing out today and it idled at about 1400-1500 rpms and went down as it warmed-up. The idle was nice, smooth, and she was really quiet...well it's stock.

First drive, Pulled out (I havent drove stick for almost 6 months ) And it kicked sidway but was easy to correct. The gears shift smooth and the clutch feels great (that has been replaced he said along with the normal tune-up stuff).
I think it ran better than my moms 02 cavalier witch stalled out as I was leaving .

The Car looks pretty good, I will see if I can get the cell pics I took up, if not i can e-mail them. They are crappy and don't do any justic 4 the car. The only thing that it has is a different hood/clutch and everything else is factory.

I have it on hold untill thursday when I talk to some more people on if I should go for it or not, the only thing holding me back is 2 small spots of rust on the rear trunk, easy fix. The pass. door had some rust on the inner part of it at the bottom but I'm looking to just replace the intire door and call it that(any ideas on replacement costs?). The only other blemish was on the roof, their was a small dent that would be easy to pop out ($50) and it's really not that bad. Total price would be $5800 out the door (I started out at $5K and went from their, after t/t/f's it would have been $5500 but he said no. we talked some more and I settled for $5800 out the door). I think thats good because we started out at $6500 + tax/title/fees.....about $7K.

This guy was nicer than the last and was willing to work with me on it because I told him the last guy I was talking to was a ***** and would not deal with the price. I ended up walking away from that deal because the dealer would not budge and he was a dick to me. I think it's a good deal because it only has 74,000 miles on it. It's a red 89 notchback.

What do you older guys that have been doing this for a while think?

I'm not a nube to this i used to have a 05 GTO. I took great care of that car and it went 12.9@110 with just a cat-back....All I want to know is what you mustang guys think about this deal? I did plenty of searchs and found a lot a great info along with stangnet forum members. I just want to know if this sounds legit and if I shouid bite. I like the car and it needs a tiny bit of work, but for it being what 18 years old...I think it's great. how about youguys? [8D]

A Notch will only go up in value. 89 is a hot year if you rather have reduced weight over air bags. It's the last year with the tilt wheel and the fist year with mass air. If it is clean and fresh 5,800 sounds a bit high but that depends on the condition.

I think it's pretty good but the headlight got to go because I would rather have smoked ones. The stock ones show they are 18 years old, but it only has 74K on it thats pretty low. I think that after a washing and buffing it would look good.
