backfiring?

ok mods are in my sig and its an 87 GT.

when i go WOT and shift at about 5,300 it back fires. is this really a bad thing? it didnt do it before i put the long tubes on. anyone elses car back fire?

it might be sucking in cold air because of an exhaust leak? you said it only started until after you put the long tubes on so it points in that direction

ya thast kind of what i was thinking but there are no leaks..

would bumping my timing fix the backfiring?

How many miles are on your motor? You might have some weak valve springs. Does it seem to float and fall on it's face around those RPM's?

just rolled over 105,000 documented miles.[/align][/align]it seems to pull real strong up to like 5,800. but i dont go there often.[/align]
