leaking injector?

RE: leaking injector?
depends on how its leaking. i've seen them crack and leak out the side, ontop of the manifold, or it could be leaking into the cylinder. that would require pulling them all out and having them tested.

or just buy another used set..... you could buy a used set for prob almost the same price it would cost to have them tested. And than if they ARE bad than you will still need to buy a new set (or one, or a few, whatever)

RE: leaking injector?
well a mechanic gave me that hint of why my car smokes starting up after sitting over night but it only smokes as soon as the car is cranked and never again he said that the injector might be leaking into the cylinder and the smoke is just to much fuel burning at once. they are 19lb injectors. also someone on here said something about the way foxes get when its cold but they said it was a suggestion....what do you think

you can pull the upper intake off, then pull out the whole fuel rail with all the injectors still in it. place a large bucket or pan under the fuel rail, and turn the key on. they will prime, then close. after they close, you can observe any leaking.

Leaking injectors will:
Cause your pressure to bleed off quickly. Typically more than 5psi bleed-off in 1 hour is a sign of a problem
Cause hard or no starting unless under WOT
(Flooding)
Cause hydrolockingand bend rods or worse (ask a 5.4 3valve owner).
Foul plugs
If you don't have a gauge, I say remove all your plugs after letting it sit all night. Disconnect your ignition module and then turn the key to start. If you see fuel shoot out of a cylinder after disabling the injectors electrically (Ignition module) - it's injectormust be leaking.
