how to tell if a 5.0 was originally a 4-banger
Few quick questions:
What's the best way to tell if amustang is a factory V8 car or if it had been converted from a 4 cylinder to a 5.0Lsomewhere in life?
Also how you tell a 7.5 rear end from a 8.8 rear?
Lastly what's the first year of air-bag cars with no tilt steering?
Thanks

go get the vin number and type it into yahoo.com... the 1st or 2nd link will give u some info on the car, not much but it will tell u engine size... i used that when looking on line at camaros to see if they were 305s or 350s

There is a page on the Net with Stang Door Tag information. Google it and you might find it. i dont remember it off the top of my head.
However, the door tag is on the drivers side with all of the pertinent information.
The last set of numbers on the tag should read:
TR
TRRTT
The T - is for Automatic
The 2 - is for 5 speed.
The RR TT are shock spring codes.
So, if it was a TRUE 5spd it would read something like this:
TR
2RRTT...
Get it???
