hello i have a 95 mustang gt and my dome light will not shut off. no matter what i do i cant get it to shut off can someone help? its the light that turnes on when you open the door. i finally took the bulb out. it might sound dumb but i just got the car today.

 

Check the dashboard illumination switch. I remember a previous vehicle if you turned the dimmer all the way until it clicked the dome light would turn on. Also check the switch on the light itself (if it's got one), there are usually three settings. On, Off, and Door. (might be too obvious, but just covering the basics).

Next thing to check is to see if one of the door switches is broken (or the wiring going to it).

 

That happened on my 94. The door switch was stuck it drove me nuts i tried all of the simple stuff and i had overlooked the door switch.</P>

 

Your car has a dome light and two reading lights ran off switches. If it is indeed your dome light check the swithch to make sure it isn't turned all the way to the left. Your door switch could also be shorted to ground actually bypassing the switch alltogether.

 

thanks guys i finally found the problem. it was my headlight **** it was too far to the left.
