oil pressure and coolant questions
ok i have two questions for you guys/girls
1) ok the other day i noticed that my oil pressure gauge dropped down to nothing for like 10-20 sec then it went back up. i like **** myself and i didnt kno what to do when it happened. then again today it dropped but for only like 2 sec. idk what the deal is.. can n e one help me out.
2) the other day i randomly met a couple of my friends and my friend tom wanted to race me w/ his modded vr6 golf. so i was like alright. so we went on the highway and started from like 35mph ish in 2nd he got an initial jump on me but the back of his car only went to where my front tire was and it stayed there until he missed 4th and i took off. very good race. but then i noticed my engine temp started going up so i pulled off and stopped at the 7-11. when i looked under the hood there was coolant all on the drivers side and the coolant overflow was filled to the top ( i assumed it came from there) i checked the radiator and had to put 3/4 of a bottle of coolant in. i just got my waterpump and thermostat replaced reciently (about 2 weeks ago) do you guys have n e idea why it would shoot coolant out of the overflow? and not keep it in the radiator?
thanx for all you that can help me out help

RE: oil pressure and coolant questions
If i believe correctly, the oil pressure guage is electrical, cuz mines jumps around when i turn accesories on and stuff.................its ignorant
The coolant stuff, when its get hot and expands. it goes into the overflow tank, but i dont know why it would overflow outta there, maybe too much coolant?but i guess not cuz you said you had to add some, surely soneone else will help with that

RE: oil pressure and coolant questions
You had way too much coolant in your car, thats why it was overflowing.
the reason you had to add so much is because you ddint let the car cool down.
when coolant pushes out into the overflow, it will stay there until the motor begins to cool and the coolant will become more dense. the coolant in the overflow will than actually be sucked back into the radiator.
pulling over when you car is running hot is the worst thing to do. you should have stayed on the highway and cruised around 60mph. this allows the coolant in the system to continue circulating through the radiator and your car will cool off faster. I have seen people pull over and have their radiator hoses blow off because of too much pressure building in the system due to the block superheating the stagnant coolant

RE: oil pressure and coolant questions
could just be the guage. mine did that when i bought the car so i put a mechanical one in there just to make sure. with my luck about a month after i put it in, the electrical one started working again! now i have two working guages but no pressure problems haha

haha another victim of the ford oil pressure gauge
keep playing guessing games or do the smart thing and spend the $40 on a mechanical gauge
there is no highway long or paved-well enough to reach 140mph in MA.... atleast where i am (I-95)
