alright well the 87 that i just got the door handles are bad. its power everything and not sure if it affects it, but the door can be unlocked and i pull the handle and the door won't open. both the driver and passenger side are like that. i am just thinking it needs new ones. but i also have a 91 lx that the door handles work fine and its power everything as well. could i take the door handles from the lx and put them on the gt or should i just buy new ones? is this a hard task or what? not sure how to do it so any help, links or whatever would be great. thanks guys!

 

Maybe the person b4 you broke them or something. My driver side was broken but if you pulled it just right it would open. it was always funny when my friends would try to jump in the drivers seat but they couldnt get the door open.

do a search "door handle" believe me you'll get your results. Thats how i fixed my problem, it has everything in there like how to change your handles.....without a rivet gun. If that is indeed your problem.

Can you pull up the door lock stub thing....whatever its called i cant think right now. if not then its the power lock motor.

 

Its easy my door handle used to break all the time because my door sags and all you have to do is remove your inside door panel and unscrew some screws. If you go to www.50resto.com they have metal ones that dont break. i havent had to replace mine since. and lx handles will fit your gt door no problem.

 

yeah my door handles broke if you pull more up and toward the car it should open if you just pull out towards you nothing will happen

 

+1 on that theres a trick to it. its kinda like your security. no one else can get it. one time i got pulled over and the cop wanted to open my door and couldnt she kept trying to unlock it. it was funny as he\*l so i had to reach out and do it cause my inside door doesnt work ha.

 

lol, the indoor one works fine just not the outdoor handle. i'll try it and see what happens. thanks for the help guys!

 

also check inside i thought mine had broke a few times but i guess i just tugged a lil to hard one day and it came un done i took off my door panel and reset it and whala it worked.
