Default SOME HELP, REAR END NOISE?????

I have a loud noise coming from the rear of my car. It sounds like a flat tire. I thought that it was the rim or tire but its not. I bought new tires and rotated the rims. It follows the speed of the car exactly. But it doesn't cause any vibration. It sounds like " whoap whoap whoap whoap" if you can imagine a sound from that word. like " whoa" with a P at the end. Any help is appreciated.

Pinion or carrier bearing, or possibly both. The fluid is supposed to be changed every 10k miles or so because of the limited slip in the rear end. Most people don't change it, and it causes premature wear on the bearings. Its a good idea to plan on putting bearings in it, though it would probably run a long time without having to. Might wanna consider throwing in some gears while you're in there, cuz the roar in the rear end isn't going away without new bearings... You can pick up gears pretty cheap from 50resto or somewhere like that and motive offers a bearing installation kit for 8.8 rear ends for like 75 to 100 bucks. It will come with all the bearings and shims to install gears or just replace the bearings. Good luck

Punch your info into this calculator... Its pretty accurate.... Maybe that will help.... The 4.10's will change your power band to where you can feel it in your seat in the first couple of gears. I think you will really like them if you don't do much highway driving... Good luck

I looked around for some gears and install kits. What brand would you reccomend. I saw this deal on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-10-...93835971QQrdZ1

They have Ford racing gears to for about the same price.

Doesn't seem like a bad deal... Especially since you get axle bearing also... Good idea to change since you have your axles out... Motive makes most of the ford racing gears, so its all the same. Just make sure you have someone that has experience setting up rear ends in street cars to do the work, because they will whine if not set up properly... Good luck with the install
