Wow this is a huge set back... I dont have time for all that... Its getting put in saturday... so you are telling me... The afr heads and x cam will not work together on a stock block without modifications? Is this correct?

check out the anderson b31 cam it should be a nice add with ur set up. or go custom like blue said; a nice thing about custom cams is there built specifically for ur set up. remember cams can either make or break ur setup

Im pretty sure man. I believe it says right on AFR's website that it will require piston notching on stock 5.0's. Who is installing the heads? Im wondering why they didnt say anything to you about it.

The guy installing them is the one who recomended the heads to begin with. He is a local shop mechanic at a mustang shop. Who is doing me a favor outside of work to make money on the side. I ran everything by him first before buying... Now you are all telling me that it may not work I am very concerned... The AFR website says the 1985 H.O. will need pistons notched but thats all... It doesnt say whether then indeed do or dont. Just says may... And with the x cam I dont see why it would need it...

Well, I dont want to give you wrong advice but that is what I have always been told. I guess if your builder says it can be done, than go for it. If **** hits the fan its going to be his fault.

I sure hope it works... what would it cost and how long would it take to notch them?

Depends, thats something that I wouldnt just trust your average oil changing mechanic to do. And Im sure everyone charges different prices.

well first off the pistons need to be notched for the 86, thats what u saw. sorry just a little picky. but yea, i emailed afr and asked if the 185's would be good for me a mild build, and he said that with the stock cam and pistons they need to be notched. so i would definately imagine they would with an x cam. good luck though. u should be making over 320 wheel if u get it to work.
