Don't forget that because your car is an 85, you'll need to get an 86-93 crossmember. 85 and prior and a single hump crossmember, whereas 86-93 had a double hump.

+1 you have to get a new crossmember, you can buy one at mustangunlimited.com. also if your gonna make any kind of hp around 300+ go with the longtubes, even though they are a pita to install it will be worth it.

im looking at headers too, told shorties were perfectly fine unless you were pushin 400,

my question is do u go with 2.5 collectors or 3, i wanted to do three but all the shorties i find are 2.5

I JUST installed my LTs this Saturday and took a better part of the day and I am a mechanic. I'm making at least 400hp and needed them. You need to take out the steering shaft and lift the passenger side of the engine to get them in. You'll also need O2 sensor extensions with LTs and a short x or h pipe.
bbk longtubes dont require anything to be done with the steering shaft, but are a pita to put in as you have to lift the motor to get the passenger one to fit
Well I just took it out for ease of installation. I also got used older BBK coated headers that use the three bolt collector.
