The only times I have EVER changed cam bearings in an engine in the 30+ years I've been playing with cars is when I'm doing a complete build and I have a block 'hot-tanked'....
Yep, bearings, $20. Tool to install them $150+
I also think that to install the new 'bearings' that the engine would have to be out of the car.
BTW, they are technically bushings, not bearings..........
IMHO, unless you have been using a gear drive, just install the new cam..........

i guess getting a cam bearing install tool for 20 bucks new was a good deal then. either way, id rather spend 150 and do something right the first time and know its good to go and not going to cost more than 150 in the long run.
