What is the fattest wheel/tire
For an unmodified 93 GT 5.0:
What is the fattest wheel/tire combo you can install. This is for a road machine, which will be slightly lowered. I believe in maximum rubber on the road.
What type of adjustments can you make to the fenders and wheel wells to go wider?

for a road machine - you're going to have to put a nice thick front swaybar in there, which will give you enough space for 245s if slightly lowered. -- IF you don't put a front swaybar or can find one somewhere with a narrow front bend then you can fit 265s easily with an approx. 1.75 inch lowering......and then email me and let me know where you got THAT narrow bend front sway bar .

On the rear. 265s go in no problem. if you get 275s you'll probably need to roll the inside of the fender...not a big deal.

I have a bud who has 315s -- but he had to tub and then custom the rear end axles. --- he also had 275s up front..... LOOK KILLER!!!

and had "cat on a rug" traction. -- ps - you need nice HP to get those huge things rolling nicely..

ok.....the tire size width hasn't much to do with the wheel size. let me explain.

245,265,275,315 is just the width size in mm (millimeters).

the /30 /40 /50 /60 is the percentage of the tire width that is now a measurement for the tire wall. In other words how tall the tire is from the rim edge to the ground.

the 14 15 16 17 18 19 is just the size of the tire that will go on a 14 15 16 17 18 19 inch rim.

Example: My front tires are 245/60 16 which means that my rims are 16 inches and so that tire fits (rim-wise) on my 16 inch pony wheels.

...also take into consideration that that /whatever is going to determine your tire height......

Example: a 245/60 16 tire is about the same height at a 265/55 16 the 245/60 16 tire is 27.57 inches in height and the 265/55 16 is 27.48 inches in height. This is because the percentage of the 265 is lower than the 245s because if you had a 265/60 16 it would be 28.52 inches tall.

Now, you can vary tire width, up to a certain point, on a particular rim width. I can put 225s,245s and 265s on my 16 x 8.5 incher (and I am talking wheel size here folks...LOL)

If you need more info on wheels and tires let me know, I think I have sometech info somewhere on some PC in my house or something.

Also, read up on backspacing etc... to get the most out of your stock wheel well and such.

i lowered my car 2 inches in the front and 1.8 in the back, i wanna put 245-40-17 on the front and 255-40-17 or even 265-40-17 on the back would all these sizes fit? I have a slightly modified car, would they slow me down any bit?

yes they will fit. i learned from trial and error. my friend has a tire shop and we experminted one day . i did have to roll the lips a little but that was no big deal.
