cheapest most effective mod is the torque converter. my friend put a 2600 stall in his bone stock thunderbird and gained 1/2 second.

not part of trans but put some 3.55's out back you will shave a ton off the quarter mile

you can run 3.73's with the wide gear ratio but first gear will be like having a stock trans and 4.56 out back
second would be like a stock trans with 4.10 or 3.90 out back
3rd would be like 3.55ish
4th would be like having a stock trans and 3.10 out back
