If you're going to install a stroker....8.2 or 9.5 deck height + you already have the OBD-II wiring setup (SN95 V6) with a 104 pin ECM.....how does an OBD-II setup with a DIS ignition system from an Explorer/Mountaineer + an Explorer ECM + aftermarket tuner (Tweecer) attached to it sounds?.......you'd be able to throw any modifications at it and tune as required........just a thought.

Ok heres whats been decided thus far. Again thanks Joel and Jasper and everyone else. Pretty close to what I was thinking Joel. Im actually going to be looking for a complete explorer/mountaineer engine for the swap. I seen a couple at a local yard before I left with the GT-40 intake setup. Yeah Jasper Ive decided to go with the 302/347 stroker for my 94. Saves a bit of hassle with aftermarket FI issues. But the 351/393 has not been forgotten. That combo will likely go into my 68 with a C6 backing it and a 9" tracking it. Sounds like and correct me if Im wrong Joel, but did you say in a nutshell that the V6 computer connector is the same pin setting as the V8? Yeah Jasper I saw some TK600s right after I posted that. My T5 will likely be backing my stock 289 in my 66. Dont plan any further mods than that. Shes pretty much original cept someone put a clutsy super 10 tranny in it in place of the original C4. If it wasnt for that my 66 would be completely original. Oh well. Keep me posted guys on some cool mods, Heres a line up so far.
5.0/ 347 stroker
Kenne Bell blowzilla 2.4 L twinscrew
42lb injectors
90mm mass air and TB
GT 40 Lower (required by kenne bell)
oh one more thing? Im old school frd so these new ones fedangle me a bit. should I go with 28 or 31 spline 8.8 stuff?

you better start worrying about an aftermarket block before you think about anything else.... a 347 with a KB on top of it is going to break a stock block in half

I cant remmeber correctly, but is a 66 289 take a 4 bolt bellhousing? if so your t-5 wont mount up, also BorgWarner was bought out by Tremec- in the 90's

Good question Stanger and I do have an answer. Straight up, no it will not bolt up to the 289. pre 1966 289s were 5 bolt and 1966-68 were 6 bolt. However mustang restoration places such as CJ ponyparts offer a conversion block or bell housing along with everything else really needed to convert older stangs to a T-5 even the crossmember and hydraulic conversions. I did not know that Borg warner was bought by tremec but that explains the tremec t-5s. Like I said I know a hell of alot more on old school than newer stangs.
