Well in my situation, when I swapped around the upper intake, it quite simply didn't fit anymore. And rather than mess around trying to fabricate an extension, I figured I would just completely remove the ugly thing anyway.

No emissions to worry about here and I don't care too much about mileage anyway.

yeah, you remove the EGR no more emission testing for you, atleast legal ones.

Looks? I was too cheap to buy a new one when mine went bad, so I just eliminated it. I made a new spacer.
