ride wouldnt be any rougher.... and engine lope is all in the cam.

machine work would get ya for turning the crank like that - just alot of labor to get it turned down.

the more you stroke it the better its gonna be, but you gotta think about the conversion factors from a 302 to a 351. if you wanted to keep a 302 base in it you can get about 500 hp out of a stock block. im building a scat 331 with keith black forged pistons cast crank and rods with arp studs this set up is good for about 475-500 at the flywheel that is with the right cam heads intake and so on. the kit costs about 800 from summit and machine work is costin me about 550. it really depends on how many rpms you wanna turn too. the more stroke you get the more lower end power youre gonna have where as with a 331 kit you can probably still turn in the neighborhood of 7000 +/- a little so id say 331 and if thats not enough force that thing but id go h beam rods forged crank and a better block. just depends on you budget. well thats what i think about it

Drawbacks to 351W swap.
1) 351W is heavier than 302 (both fully dressed) by about 60#. This means that on typical FOX body car, you would end up with about 60% of the weight on the front end. Where you don't want it.
2) You'll need specific oil pan for 351W/FOX car swap.
3) You'll need specific 351W distributor.
4) You may/may not, need differant headers.
This stuff could easily end up costing $900+.....

yep it the first. a buddy of mines got a fox with the scat 331 with all the accsesories and streetable mufflers it ran a 12.83 on drag radials with a 1.9 60 ft. but hes got a typhoon intake and everbody ive talked to says thats really hurtin him. i am running victor jr. heads 60 cc cahmbers with .650" springs a custom cam from anderson for motorsport the n-71 which is a around 6500 prm cam and a rpm II intake 1.6 rr 1 3/4 long tube headers 2 1/2 exhaust and gonna get it dyno tuned. i started with the heads and the stroker kit and anderson helped me pick out all the other smaller stuff that would get the most out of what im running.

but the upside? 408 and 427 strokers, leaving the guys who spent ALMOST as much for their 347's in the dust [8D]

1. None of these on the whole are bad things, 60#'s of additional weight are nullified if you build the car right to begin with.
2. Distributor, you are wise to go to new high end ignition system anyways if you want to support higer compression and consequently more power.
3. Oil pan? Many well built 302 based strokers can often require the change in oil pickup configuration and consequently a different oil pan. Which if you are going to go big power, you will change anyways.
4. Headers are always an issue 302 or Windsor, shorties are not great in the long run and long tubes are a pain in the *** no matter what.

Bottom line is this, you simply need to decide A. How fast do I really want to go? B. How dependable do I want it? B. How much do I have to spend? They are all related.
