Default SN95 MAF on Fox problem...

Ok... So I snagged a SN MAF out of the junkyard and a SN filter adapter (4 bolt to 3" round) off of ebay. The problem is that the filter adpater doesn't even get close to the correct bolt spacing for the SN MAF and the 3" side is a severe mis-match as well (looks more like 2.5")...

Did the guy send me the wrong part or did I get the wrong thing? There's no way that the adapter can be "massaged" in to working either. Its waaaay off. Here's the link to the auction of the adapter. The MAF came off of a 94/5 V6 (all are the same, right?).

The adpater doesn't bolt up to the SN95 MAF and the round portion is not even close to the same diameter of the SN95 MAF.

and... I'm a hoser... I need a 3.5" diameter adapter for the Fox (I just checked it) so this thing isn't gonna work regardless. At this point I just want to make sure I get the correct thing to match the SN MAF bolt pattern when I try to order the next one.

is this mass air setup all out of a sn95 fox or is it just the filter. if its not the whole setup then you need a mass air adapter for the 91 system. an aftermarket filter will usually require a adapter for your stock 91 maf tube. k and n should bolt right on to it.

Maxwelhse-
It sounds like you have it sorted out now?

You just need a larger/correct adapter, correct?

iceman-
He is using a 70mm MAF tube from a 94-95 Mustang. This is a low buck and very reliable way to gain 5-7hp. The downside is the setup (as seen in this thread), and being limited to 19lb injectors. Other than that it is a great upgrade.

Jason: You got it right on the head, but... The adapter I got, though the incorrect diameter, still has a vastly incorrect bolt pattern for the SN95 MAF. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something else so when I order the next one I don't shoot myself in the foot again.

Ice: My overall goal is to maintain a "stealth" engine bay until the big money upgrades become a viable option, so I'm using the stock intake system with a K&N element. Painting my Cobra intake HO gray and cutting the HO plaque down to fit with iron F3ZE-AA cobra heads.... Stock all the way!

This site is supposed to have the right adapter for you, but I can't seem to find it on their site...
Call them to see if they have it...
http://www.kustomz.com/cat3.html

Another option for you is to grind off the adapter flange on the 70mm MAF. This should allow you to slip the original intake tube over the 70mm MAF...

Please let us know where you find the right adapter, if you go that route

Grinding the flange down just doesn't appeal to me when the "right" way to do it should cost less than $10...

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the a 3.5" on ebay... Can't possibly strike out twice in a row, right?
