86 block question ?
On a 86 5.0 does it still have the spot for a mechanical fuel pump. Meaning is there a block off plate or has it been casted in. Its dark out right now i have no flash light to go check lol. Im just priceing out my carb conversion and i realy wanna go mechanical with the fuel pump. Ty all

isnt the thing still cast into it but its blocked off? if so you could just hog that bastard out and drill/tap some bolt holes but that would take some small amount of talent[8D]

RE: 86 block question ?
Ahh so they go through the timeing cover? Im sorry im honest when i say i realy only know chevys lol. I thought they would bolt up about the same location. So if i change my cover it will work. Now what is a "cam eccentric " exactly? See on chevy 350's the pump just bolts to the passenger front side of the block i thought ford did the same lol. Anyone with a older fox got a pic of the pump in place ?

RE: 86 block question ?
Its basically in the same spot a chevy would be.
theres two styles of eccentrics - they both bolt onto the front of the cam gear and the fuel pump lever rides on it instead of a chevy which uses the long rod and rides against a fuel pump lobe on the cam.
the early eccentrics were one piece, and the later ones were two thinner pieces, when you tighten it down the outer piece spins freely.... kinda like a bearing/bushing for the fuel pump to ride on. the later style is probably better but either one will work without any problems
early style
cant find a pic of the new style but it looks just the same but with two pieces sandwiched together.
