Default Crank Pulley

I had a thread awhile ago but didnt get much response.

My crank pulley isnt lining up with the rest. My main question is, would it be alright to put spacers inbetween the balancer and the pulley ? I havent got a chance yet to see if my new harmonic balancer is the same as the old one, dimension wise. Where the belt pops off and starts to ride is right in the middle of the belt, so i need about 3/4" or somewhere around that. Any input ?

You could if it was made for it(I think you can buy them)...don't stack washers or anything hillbilly like that.

i think you should try to find out why this is happening instead of trying to 'redneck' it

First thing i need to do is see if the factory harmonic balancer is the same size as the new one i got. There isnt a way for the harmonic balancer to go on "too far" is there ?

Thats how i did it, with a gun till it stopped and got tight. Well i guess the first test would be to see if the harmonic balancers are the same, i just gotta find the old one first. And if they are i'm not too sure what the problem is, all the pulleys up top line up, its just the crank pulley, so i'm guessing the problem is there, not up top. So if the balancers are the same, would it be alright to use spacers ?

when i replaced mine i had to use a spacer, i had a machine shop spin one out of a solid chunk of aluminum on a lathe, and they were able to put a lip on the front where the pulley would stay centered on it. i wish i had pictures but its on the car. probably really pricey to get made, but my dad used to work at the shop

Guess i just answered my own question. I'll just have to figure out exactly how much i need. I'm think around 3/4" so the .8XX one should do it for me. Would it hurt any to be a hair off ?
