could be the reverse light switch itself, or a loose or corroded wire, or a bad ground. Check the switch first.

exaclty. put a voltmeter on the switch and put the car in reverse and see if there is power coming from it. if so, you have bad wiring somewhere, if not, the switch is bad

Sorry to bring back such an old post but ... was there a fix? Why do people post problems then don't post the solution????

I have the same problem and need a solution.

BBB, I also see that alot here on MF. You get a thread with either 2 or 3 pages of pretty much the same answer.
Or it's too complicated and you get no responses.

Another thing is lack of basic manners. Like when someone answers a question to your solution. A thanks or it's now fixed its pretty rare here. I think it's just the general population here is young people and we all know most young people are lacking basic manners.

As for the reverse light switch. I'd start with the switch on the transmission. It's most likely a normally open switch and it should go closed when the trans is in reverse.
It will be the 2 prong switch on the side of the trans.

Thanks Jfsram.

Just got it fixed today by accident. I don't have any turn signals, so I bought a new turn signal flasher and whadda ya know, turn signals still don't work but the reverse lights now work [&:]!!!

I have an electical diagram and it showed that the reverse lights connect to the turn signal flasher. Go figure.
