Nickel content is a myth, my dads brother was an engineer at the windsor plant in the 70's All there is more material in the right areas. The internet is the worst virus spreader ever.

You could very well be right. There have always been two schools of thought on this. My info doesn't come from the internet but rather a machinist who claims these early blocks are harder to cut when boring them out (as in they are harder on the tools and generate more heat than later blocks) due to the higher nickel content. But we all agree these blocks are stronger and have more material in all the right places.

the high performance ford interchange book written by george reid states that the early blocks had higher content as well as the mexican blocks. this book was written in 98, at which point there werent a whole lot of car guys who knew how to turn on a computer let alone spread a myth.

just cause someone worked at the plant doesnt meant they knew the percentage of certain metals being used to pour the castings.

not trying to be a schmuck but with all the difference sources stating this over the course of many many years - im sure someone, somewhere has verified this via scientific analysis

Don't worry, that doesn't make you a schmuck. Everything else makes you a schmuck

Yes, they are stronger. from what I have HEARD(who knows the truththough)Also, pre 86 blocks are stronger than 87-95 blocks. They shaved alot of meat off of them from what Im reading in a book now.... but who knows about that either
