Default having problems setting timing

wtf. i have done this plenty before. i'm trying to bring my timing down in order to run 87 octane b/c of prices.

anyways timing is supposed to be set at tdc, right? i don't see tdc marks on my balancer.

all i see is 10 0 10 20 30 BDC

where the hell am i supposed to set it at? i have tried to turn the dizzy throughout the entire range and it either knocks or won't stay running...

help...[:'(]

hmm. i've been slowly bringing it down and then testing and i'm at about 8-9 degrees now and it still knocks under heavy acceleration.

i guess i'm just gonna keep bringing it down until it stops knocking?

make sure it is not your shifter making noise, I held the shifter tight and it stopped the noise, I thought my engine was knocking under hard acceleration too.

Maybe it is running lean, when was the last tune up, and have you checked the tps and made sure it is set to .098 volts. Just some thoughts. My car was running a bit rough and I did some of the thing mentioned above and my car runs much better.
