upper arm axle bushings. mystery part

the donut shaped ones came with the rear upper arm axle bushingkit. i don't know where they were supposed to go so i didn't use them.

The ones on the left side of the picture? They are the thrust bushing...you put them on the side of the bushing that sticks out when it is installed.

what does a thrust bushing do?i put it on but it didn't seem like it did anything.

I think it helps keep the bushing centered, and the control arm from twisting
