to the original poster if u have a good bit of cash some trick flow twisted wedge heads will fit on ur motor just fine. they are the only heads other than the the e6's that will fit the stock 86 block. im doin that then porting them and eventually adding a cam.

Will gt-40 heads not fit on the stock block? I was under the impression they would?

on a 86... yes they will bolt up to the motor.. but the pistons on the 86 motors are true flat top pistons without any valve reliefs so the pistons will make contact with the valves.. this will happen with any head on a 86 short block other then the E6 heads.. or trick flow twisted wedge heads.

Hey i have a 1986 mustang GT coupe. only 70000 miles brand new looking interior, got the king cobra gears, flowmaster cat back exhaust, rebuilt the engine allready and painted ford blue, was wondering what else should be done before expensive stuff. is there anything important that i should change from what is there that would make a huge difference in performance? this car has zero rust, and has never once been driven in rain or snow perfect condition. it is an automatic and it has 3.73 gears allready. the rpms jump a little when idleing but much work is to be done. Goal is to turn it into a 10 second car at the strip but want to run around street legal. any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Any chance that you would be able to recommend a good suspension? not very familiar with suspensions at all. id have to take that in to get it done. everything else has been pretty easy so far. i like not having all that computer crap in this car like the newer ones. also i have to switch over to mass air because i havn't yet.

sorry guys but i have to sayu r wrong on this one[:@] first off u cant even put e7 heads on a stock 86 block. second u can put a cam in an 86 but only up to about .510 lift. but than that will take away any chance of a head swap so the cam will really be no good. a buddy of mine has a tf stage 1 in his stock otherwise 86 and its slower than my stock except 373 86stang.

how cheap? GEARS. its not a hp helper but itll change the car. cam, intake.....
no cam on stock 86 short block.. unless he wants to bend all his valves.
E-303 cam
putting any cam on an 86 your gunna crush the valves. the pistons are flat top some people have a hard time putting on e7 heads cause the piston the valve clearance.

and i thought you were redass at first cause of your sig lol
