Battery problems!!!

I just did the 3g swap and i didnt have time to run the run/start wire to a hot wire so i just hooked it to the battery. Well the next morning my battery was dead. Could having the run/start wire for the alternator cause that by pullingpower from the battery all night. If so what wires have you guys ran youre run/start wire to. Thanks
