RE: Backfiring in the intake manifold
I would say the throttle position sensor, maf sensor, valves, etc. Fuked if i Know really, cuz i never got mine back to work again before I left. I do know that it started small like how yours is sounding and grew until it popped all the time between 2200 and 3500 rpms. I changed the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor, distributor small metal thingy, cleaned the maf, cleaned the air filter, checked the egr valve, checked for gas leaks, checked for vaccumm leaks. All over 200 bucks, and now I'm just tryin to get Chip foose to fix it for me. PLEASE CHIP HELP ME! Otherwise, when I get back to the states i'm taking it to a mustang specialist and have him hack at it.

RE: Backfiring in the intake manifold
ECT is the engine coolant temp sensor. i wrote a tech article about how to test it.
ACT is the air charge temp sensor. the article also applys to that sensor, they use the same resistance charts.

there is a typo in the article, you need to set the meter to K Ohms, not just Ohms
