C-4 tranny questions

C-4 tranny questions
I plan on doing some mods to my c-4 tranny this winter and have a few questions.
I'd like to install a manual valve body. Will I need to remove the tranny to do that and what are some goods kits.
Also, what servo is stock in the c-4? Will replacing the servo with a different one make a difference in performance in the tranny.
Can these mods be done by the average person?

RE: C-4 tranny questions
the servo and vlave body can both be done in car just drop the pan,and the only thing a servo will realy do for you if give make the tranny hold tighter while in gear and you could probaly get the manual valve body from b&m,tci, and a couple of other place try these www.summitracing.com www.jegs.com

RE: C-4 tranny questions
What do you mean by average person? If you are comfortable working on your car and patient with small parts assy, then you can install a shift kit. Just be careful, I almost lost a little bitty spring and ball. Do it in a very clean area...

RE: C-4 tranny questions
you can do both with out taking the trans. out. I run the PA full manual reverse valve bodie in the wifes trans and I did a c-4 for a friend and I used the Dynamic valve bodie in his it was $40 dollars cheaper and if you take them apart they are the same things.also you should run a big front servo in that thing or you will be putting a front band in it soon that is one the key things with making a C-4 last.lots of people are selling them now or you can use the Ford H -servo it will have the letter H on the outside that is the best Ford servo I have seen the H -servo work well in 9sec street NOS car and work good in the wifes street car running low 11s in a full weight street car.for years at a time.with out front band problems.
