back spacing

RE: back spacing
the back spacing means the distance from the inside of the rim where it mounts to the hub to the inside lip of the rim. If a 9" wide rim with a 5.5 backspace fits just right, if you want a 8" wide rim, you will need a 5" backspace for it to fit the same as the 9" with a 5.5, or a 8" with a 5.5" backspace with a 1/2" spacer. If you ran the 8" rim with a 3.5" backspacing, you will have 4.5" of rim past the hub where you should try and keep it around 3"...you would have issues.
