i believe i'm gonna have toget some 24lb and maf, do you think i will need a larger fuel pump, i'm first gonna try to mess with the timing some more. someone told me that i would have to have the car tuned before it would ever be right is this true.

yes you need a bigger fuel pump 155-190lph will be plenty

red hot headers does mean you are running lean for some reason.

do you also get little lean backfires?

no backfires the car runs pretty good except the headers glowing which has went down alot since i advanced the timing to around 19* but the car also has a surge in the idle and when i drive it and coming to idle it goes dead but starts back up fine and will idle, just does it when coming to a stop.

I'd definately step-up the fuel pump, and can't say either way on the tune. I've never had my set-up tuned by a professional, but I should...I'm sure I'm missing something.
