Default pilot bearing?

my 92 gt just started making a really bad squelling sound when i first crank it up. it lasts for about a second and then doesnt do it anymore until after it has sat a while. i just changed the throw out bearing the other day thinking it was the cause, but as soon as i got everything back together it was still doing it. so im thinking it might be the pilot bearing and im sure that the noise is coming from that general area. just wanted to get some opinions about it before i wasted my time again.

thanx for any help guys and girls

Maybe it would have been a good idea to replace it when you replaced the throw out bearing, huh?

maybe i should have replaced it when i had the trans out but i didnt think it would have been the cause and plus i didnt want to have to take the bell housing off and the clutch components since i didnt have the time to do all that. and no its not the belt because the noise is coming from the trans. and for those that dont know what bearing im talking about its the one that butts up to the crank that the imput shaft rests on.

Sometimes the water pump can make that noise when it starts dying. Never happened to me, but I know people who have tried a long time to figure out that noise, and it was a faulty H20 pump.

i just did a throw out baering and clutch last week i didnt replace the pilot either. but it sound like it could be your pilot or maybe your baering retainer and retainer baering on the trans.
