I'm actually looking at this now. As far as I can see the "average" HP gain is 7-15. My question is...Why is there such a vast price range?? I've seen CAI systems start at $19 and go as high as $200. Why??? What's the difference. Wouldn't the $20 do the same as the $200? Are we paying just for the name? A K&N CAI System runs about $150.

You pretty much hit the nail right on the head. It's just a tube and filter.

Most people keep the factory airbox and just put in a k&n flat panel. This setup already pulls air from the fender.

Yeah I know. It only makes sense. My problem is, the person I bought my GT from changed it, so now the Air Intake is sucking in hot air from the engine. So I'm going to put it back to the fenderwell. Guess I'll dish out the $150 for the K&N setup.

the trick with those huge hp gains they advertise is that they change the factory tune not just to accomodate the CAI, but to make it a way more agressive tune than factory just to get a huge hp number above stock, yeah they have the dyno sheet to prove it, but nobody puts that agressive of a custom tune on their car for obvious reasons
