transmission troubles
i would just like to say that this is my first mustang and that ima newbie to the stangs so please if you aint tryna help me dont say anything
i Have a 89 5.0 lx HO the tranny is an auto ithas a shift kit in it...im under the influence that the tranny is gone as it wont shift into 3rd anymore
the tranny has OD neway...i was wondering what trannies can i use that will bolt right in or in other words compatible with the motor...could i use a manual transmission if so what ones...bascially im asking like what years are okay to use with the 89 thank you for responding

you can put in a c4 tranny and only have 3 gears no over drive and shift it manually.
you can get your aod rebuilt or get another one and put in a manual valve body and overdrive switch.
with the c4 you will have to get another bellhousing if im not mistaken and possibly some other stuff.
the c4 will be cheaper but i prefer to have my overdrive.
