well i guess i'll do that, cheap and easy. but i'm still not gettin an answer as to why i overheated when i turned the heat on!

the reason it prolly did that is because your turning something on that requires heatand the t-stat was working correctly so it just rose quicker

i highly doubt the blower motor being on was making the temperature go up. sounds like the thermostat is stuck, and the blower motor will only help with cooling if there is flow.
