Default What color to paint this mother

Just looking for thoughts here. I'm pretty handy with anything that has to do with cars, I've done minor body work before, but I'm thinking of spraying my car in a nice black primer. I love the way the older muscle cars looked in all black primer and I'm thinking about giving it a try. Any advice or opinions are welcome

just be mindful that primer holds in moisture and will lead to rust. If you want that look, spray it will matte black paint, or flat black like the stripes on a hemi cuda or a mach 1. It will be low gloss like primer but a better finish.

yes, this is true. the point of primer is to fill in fine scratches from body work. in order to get the same type of finish that will last and not hold the moisture what a lot of the guys do that do this is get a black acrylic lacquer with a deadner mixed in to "flatten" the paint. acrylic lacquer is what all of your older cars were painted with until they came out with urethane paint. the acrylic tends to be thicker and has a tendency to chip, but a few of my buddies from my paint class used acrylic lacquer on some of their cars and didn't seem to have any problems. my vote, go with the acrylic and deadner over primer.

As someone asked i wouldnt sand on the matte black finish because essentially that is your paint. They make a low gloss clearcoat to seal it as well. Guys like boyd coddington and the likes use this low gloss clear on the matte finishes to seal it from the elements.

my car is in all black primer right now and looks real nice because i love the color, but it messes up real easy. if you rub your finger across it, wipe it off, or anything it tends to turn whitish real easy and scratches are very easy to get on it nad are quite noticeable. you can get it wet and kinda rub off the scratches though, but then your also taking off some primer. i would suggest some kind of flat black paint, then it shouldnt be so easily messed up.
